Also known as a boot lid release switch, tailgate release button, boot opener switch, luggage compartment release switch or tailgate micro switch, it is the electrical release switch fitted behind the tailgate handle or badge, and uses a 2 pin connector. Replacing a failed switch cures a boot or tailgate that will not open at the button even though it still releases from the remote or the interior release.
